Mann Family Lines From Around The World

Genealogy of Richard Man who left England, along with his wife Rebecca Short, and Immigrated to Scituate, Massachusetts.

Mann Museum in Scituate, Massachusetts [1]

The South Shore Leader in Historic Preservation and Education, Mann Farmhouse and Museum 108 Greenfield Lane.

Three generations of the Mann family lived at the Mann Farmhouse at the corner of Stockbridge Road and Greenfield Lane, direct descendants of early settler Richard Man who lived on North Scituate Mann Hill overlooking Musquashicut Pond where he met his death in 1655/6.

John Man or possibly his father Capt. Thomas Man built this typical full Cape.

The ell was added and served as a summer kitchen, storage area, and workshop.

Percy Mann, the grandson of John Mann and a seventh-generation descendant of Richard Man, lived in this house until 1968, and then He died at the age of 93.

The artifacts of the Mann family on display in the Mann Farmhouse date from the seventeenth century to the present time.

They were given to the Town of Scituate under the custody and administration of the Scituate Historical Society by two Mann family heirs. The artifacts include primitive Pilgrim furniture, carpenter and shoe-making tools, military items, china, children's toys, early farming equipment, and many valuable documents and books.

The collection reflects the varied trades in which the Mann's worked: farming, maritime trade, soldiery in every American war, religion, education, sail making, and more.

Several other points of historical interest rest on the grounds of the Mann House property.

After Percy Mann had a run-in with the town’s officials in the 1920s, he decided that rather than pay vehicle registration fees, driver’s license fees, and car insurance, he would just drive his automobile into the backyard, park it and never drive it again.

Over the course of time, a tree grew up through the middle of the car, which remains where Percy left it almost a century ago.

At the eastern end of the land is the final resting spot of Zebby, Percy’s beloved horse. A replica barn, built by local students in the 1970s, contains a fantastic collection of ancient farm tools.

I'm interested in joining the Mann group. My maiden name is Mann and I'm trying to expand my family tree and I'm kind of stuck around the early 1800s.
I am interested in working with the Mann Name Study group.

My Mann link is through my mom, Helen Patricia Mann (Mann-13181), and currently stops at John Mann (Mann-3963) in Chester Pennsylvania. It would be nice to figure out how that line links up with other Manns.

My great grandmother was Elizabeth Sarah (Mann) Pilcher (Mann-1781) born in New Romney, Kent, England. I have about 150 related Manns on my trusted list, most from Kent.

Where do I find the " current teams and research pages " I am supposed to browse?

I appreciate the comment that you left on our https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Mann_Name_Study because the research pages are added by those members of the Mann Name Study who are representing all of the Mann family Profiles in their family ancestral line that they wish to write about.

This can include a biography of each Mann Profile that they want to highlight, either starting with the first Mann in their ancestral line or any other Mann in their family line that should be represented.

Are there any published books based on your Mann family line with possible links?

Here are a few examples you can add:

1. Published books based on your Mann Family line with possible links?

2. Historical societies in the geographical area of study that hold files on your Mann family?

3. Family Historical Societies?

4. Websites that are dedicated to your Mann Family line?

5. Pictures are welcome to be added to our Mann Name Study.

6. Any DNA https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/mann/about

This Mann Name Study is a group endeavor by all of us members.

I started with my Man/Mann Family line, and now I want this to continue with every Mann Family line that members are willing to share. Just please start by adding your name to our membership list, or I can do that.

I am open to all suggestions by you and anyone else to make our Mann Name Study a want-to-check-out site.

I give permission for you to edit, and add whatever you would like about your Mann Family on your trusted list, like your Mann Family from Kent, England.

Greetings fellow researchers. I am a Canadian cousin whose Mann ancestors arrived in Canada ~1832 from Sussex England. My WikiTree footprint is lacking at the moment, but I will add names and dates as able and would do my best to reply to anyone looking in Canada or northeastern US for relatives.

I would love to join the Mann Project. Right now, I have confirmed to Israel Mann born in Glocester, RI. He was listed in the 1790 Census. He then moved to Norwich, NY where he is in the 1800 census. Most likely of Rehobeth stock.

My name is Stacey. I am currently looking into my family tree. I'm unsure if this relates to me anyway. My family are from the West Midlands. All of the Mann children (my dads brothers and sisters are deceased). My dad was the youngest of 16 children. His fathers name was Isiah Mann - he died when my father was 16 so my dad only has vague recollections of his older family members. All his grandparents were deceased when he was born. His mother was adopted from Scotland as her parents died in a accident so I'm really struggling but trying to perservere! If anyone knows any tips or tricks it would be appreciated! X

ydna testing proves me (from the UK) related to Robert Mann who immigrated from England to Virginia. it is a pity it is impossible to give reliable, public, freely available sources for profiles of him and his descendants. hearsay and unsourced family trees at Ancestry and other commercial sites are not reliable sources and not freely available. living in Sweden i can only source with what is found online at FamilySearch. anyone want to collaborate? i find i have tried the impossible so i am giving up trying to help.

Edwin, Please don't stop searching for sources on any of your ancestors. Trust me, I know how frustrating it can be when you run into a roadblock or a dead end and think I'm done looking, and then I find the right place and get the info I was looking for.

Ancestry.com can be used as a stepping stone to finding US Federal Census where each ancestor may have lived. Also, State Census is another place to check out if they lived there, and the Census in the US are not copywritten. Keep looking in every nook, and cranny of who your ancestor was, and lived. Most cities and states have historical societies, and hopefully can help find what you are looking for. Take care, Keith
