I am an Australian with ancestors ranging from a Scottish convict transported to Australia in 1817 to the Pyne family from Exeter Devon, the family that have given me my name. I have 2 brothers and a sister and 2 children and an extended family of cousins and their children and grandchildren, all descended from the Exeter Pyne connection. I lecture in Australian history at the University of Western Sydney and the History of the Middle East Conflict at Sydney University
