Actor, film director, producer, and writer best known as the Ghostbuster Egon Spengler. He co-wrote the screenplays for such films as Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, Animal House, Meatballs, Stripes, and Groundhog Day, and wrote and directed Caddyshack, Analyze This, and Analyze That.
Harold Allen Ramis was born 21 Nov 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to parents Nathan Ramis and Ruth Cokee. He married twice and had three children.
In 1993, he, along with Danny Rubin, won the BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay for Groundhog Day, beating out In The Line of Fire, The Piano, and Sleepless in Seattle.
In 2008, he was a resident of Highland Park, Lake County, Illinois.[1]
On 24 Feb 2014, Harold Ramis passed away at age 69 at his residence in Glencoe, Cook County, Illinois. He was buried in Section XIV Mamre, 8B of Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington Heights, Illinois.[2]
