On 5 Aug 1900, Horace Malvern Randels was born in Anthony, Harper County, Kansas, USA to James Bennett Randels (born near Salem, Ohio) and Florence May Coulson (born in New Lisbon, Ohio). [1]

On 21 Apr at the time of the 1910 US Census, head of household James H. Randels (age 46, born in OH) was employed as a the Manager of a Wholesale Grocery Store and living in a home he owned with a mortgage at 223 South Bluff Avenue in Anthony Township, Harper, Kansas with his wife, Florence M. Randels (age 43, born in OH); daughter Wilamina Randels (age 18, born in KS) employed as a Teacher for a Public School; son Lee W. Randels (age 16, born in KS); daughter Alta F. Randels (age 14, born in KS); son George B. Randels (age 3, born in KS); son Horace M. Randels (age 9 years 9 months, born in KS); son Ray A. Randels (age 7, born in KS); and son Stanford C. Randels (age 3 years 10 months, born in KS). James and Florence had been married for 24 years; Florence had given birth to ten children, all ten of whom were alive at that time. Both of James's parents were born in Ohio; Florence's father was born in Ohio and her mother in Illinois. [2]

Death and Legacy

On 17 Jan 1933, Horace Malvern Randels died at 32 years, 5 months and 12 days. Cause of death was due to "Sudden death homocidal bullet wounds in back and chest, revolver." Horace had been employed as a Rancher and living at the "Farm at Butlerville" at the time of his death. [4]
