Margaret Reed (spelled "Reed" in The American Genealogist article by Robert Charles Anderson)[1]
Margaret Reed was baptized on 20 Jan 1636 at Long Sutton, Somersetshire, England, the daughter of William Reed and Avis Chapman.[2] [3]
The family was next found when they had immigrated to Weymouth, Massachusetts, probably before 1651. Margaret's father, William, was made a freeman at Weymouth on 18 May 1653.[4]
Margaret married on 11 May, 1657 John Vining.[3] Margaret had no children. After her death, John married, as his 2nd, to Mary Reed (no relation).[5]
Margaret married on "11 3 mo. 1657" (11 May 1657) at Weymouth to John Vining.[2][6]
Savage, the author of the first record, reported that Margaret died on August 6, 1659 at Weymouth, Suffolk (later Norfolk), Massachusetts.[5] Savage also reports that after Margaret's death, John Vining married, as his 2nd, to a Mary Reed. This seems to be an error. Anderson writes that the works of Pope and Savage "muddled the records."[7]
Note of Caution, Multiple William Reads: Robert C. Anderson in his Great Migration, warns that there were multiple William Reads living in Boston and Weymouth at the same time, and that their biographies are so confused that Anderson chose not to deal with the problems.[7] He said the works of Pope and Savage "muddled the records."[7] He called Weymouth History by George Walter Chamberlain "less successful, but still useful," and Jacob Whittemore Reed's History of the Reed Family in Europe and America, (Boston 1861) "worthless."[7] The one work he recommends is by Donald Lines Jacobus', The Granberry Family and Allied Families, Including the Ancestry of Helen (Woodward) Granberry.[7] However, Jacobus cites Chamberlain and J. L. Reed, and even his work contains some mistakes regarding this William Read. Unfortunately, Margaret is not mentioned in The Granberry Family ...
The other William Read of Weymouth is William Read in WikiTree. (He married 1) Susanna Hayme and 2) Ruth Crooke), arrived earlier, and removed to Boston by 1646.
The information below was included in the biography:
Children Richard Stubbs b: 6 Dec 1661 in Hull, Plymouth colony[8]

The year of death for Margaret Read/Reed Vining may be 1659 per: https://archive.org/details/vitalrecordsofwe02weym/page/358/mode/2up?q=Vining https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=njp.32101067881399&view=1up&seq=154 Adopting the 1659 death date makes it very unlikely that Margaret Vining and Margaret Stubbs are the same person. This article in NEHGR says Margaret Stubbs is the daughter of William and Susannah Hayme Read. https://www.americanancestors.org/DB202/i/11712/335/235396573 Although Anderson doesn't list her as a daughter, there is a gap where her birth would fit in.

Just "collecting" them for now. Would like to find the spelling "Reed" to merge all into (if possible). Otherwise, will at least wait until I am sure to have the lowest number for the target profile
