Notes

Trying to sort out difficult and conflicting information regarding my Richardson branch of my tree. This is to help others as well. Too many researchers are confusing data on two different William Richardsons. Both lived in Georgia and removed to Tennessee. One William settled in Hickman County Tennessee, this is the father of Rebecca who married Edward Sharpe Milam. Right now, the the & mother of this William's children has not been proven by this researcher. But this is a fact..she is NOT Kiziah McGary

In the 1830s Rebecca and her husband Edward Milam, her brothers Joseph and Terrell aka David relocated to Franklin County Arkansas. They are seen living next to one another in the 1840 census there. There is an elderly man in Joseph's household, which I believe to be the father, William. Their mother must have died in the 1830s, for 1830 is last census for her. Ransom appears to be the last one out of Hickman, as he is listed there in 1840 census, to be found in Missouri in the 1850 census.

  • Kiziah McGary Richardson was married to a William Richardson, but they settled in Maury County Tennessee. This William died in 1827, and his will states his wife and children. His first son was James M. Richardson. His first daughter Polly was married to Amos Richardson at the time his will was written. His second son was William W. Richardson. His third son was John M. Richardson. His fourth and last son was Thomas T. Richardson. His other daughter was Derinda, and as stated by Kiziah in her will dated 1828, was her only daughter. Kiziah died in 1830. The information from both of their wills, one would have to draw the conclusion Kiziah is his second wife. Also, there is no reference to a Rebecca, Joseph, Terrell, or Ransom in either of their wills. However, have seen trees with these listed to William and Kiziah Richardson of Maury County Tennessee. (I confess, I did too) Rebecca's parents were still living in Hickman in 1830, as proved by census.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
