Biography

Francis was born in 1749. She was the daughter of John Richardson and Mary Curd. She passed away in 1795. [1]

Frances Richardson was one of 10 known children named in her father (John Richardson)'s will in 1783 in Cumberland Co VA. [2] [3] She was orn about 1744, based on the order in which the children of John Richardson were named.


She married Lewis Jackson on 4 Jan 1764 in Cumberland County, Virginia[4]

On their marriage record, Henry Cox, guardian of Frances Richardson and her brother in law, gave permission for the marriage of Frances Richardson to Lewis Jackson. Elizabeth Richardson Cox, Frances' sister, had died young, but Henry Cox seemed to have remained within the family marrying Ann Madison in Charlotte County, Virginia[5] . The majority of the Richardson family, including Frances' sister Ann, and her mother Mary Curd Richardson left Cumberland Co for Charlotte County, Virginia. Frances and Lewis Jackson moved briefly to land his father had left him in Chesterfield Co Virginia, before moving to Charlotte Co VA[6]

Frances was the mother of 12 children before her death, which was before Feb 1795."Almost all were minors, although one was married at the time of Frances' husbands death[7]


Eleven or Frances (Richardson) Jackson's children were found in the records of Charlotte County, Virginia[8]

. Lewis Jackson, Frances' husband had died in Jan 13 1795, while settling his mother in law's estate, but left no will[9], but his estate was not resolved until much later.

. Frances' estate was appraised on Feb 18 1795[10]
