Biography

John Roberds married Sarah (Williamson) Roberds (174001810) on December 14, 1764 in Goshen MM, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, who is the daughter of Peter Williamson (1705-1761) and Leah (Le Nisor) Williamson (1711-?). In 1782, John Jr. and Sarah moved their family from Bucks County, Pennsylvania to Virginia (Hopewell MM., Frederick County, Virginia), where they stayed for 6 years before moving to South Carolina. (Bush River Monthly Meeting, District 96, SC) John was born before 1746.

He was the son of Thomas Roberds and Sarah Gilbert. He passed away in 1796 error [1807 Barren County, Kentucky. John Roberds that died 1796 Union County, SC was son of Walter Roberds. This John Roberds married his first cousin, Rebekah Roberds and after her husband's death married to Moses Randel in 1798.

He is the brother of Rebecca (Roberds) Randel (1765-1850), Thomas Roberds (7169-1828) and Asenath (Roberds) Morgan (1780-1852).

He is the father of Sintha (Roberds) Howell (1806-?), Rila Roberds (1808-1878), Wila Roberds (1810-1856), Amariah Roberds (1813-1856) and Asenith Malinda (Roberds) Pickering (1818-?).

DNA

Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. David Curtis Roberds Jr, FTDNA kit #B223817, and his 5th cousin once removed, Meryl Roberts, FTDNA kit #B274389, match at a Genetic Distance of 6 on 111 markers thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA Thomas Roberds. FTDNA indicates that the probability the two share a common ancestor within the last 6 generations is 72.22% and within the last 7 generations is 81.64%.
