Biography
Martha was born on 3rd October 1835, the daughter of John Robson and Elizabeth (Stockton) Robson. She was christened on 23 Jan 1836 at Flag Lane Primitive Methodist, Sunderland, County Durham, England.[1][2]
In 1841 Martha was 5, living in Pan Lane, Monkwearmouth, with her parents and siblings,[3] and in 1851 they were living in Gateshead.[4]
In 1861 she was recorded as housekeeper on the census at her recently widowed brother-in-law John Turnbull's home (with his at least four children ages 17 - 2).[5]
Martha's marriage to John Legender was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1865 in the Sunderland district.[6]
In the 1881 census Martha (age 45) was the wife of John Legender in Gateshead, Durham, England.[7]
In the 1891 census Martha (age 55), Draper, was the wife of John Legender in Gateshead, Durham, England.[8]
In the 1901 census Martha (age 66) was the wife of John Legender in Gateshead, Durham, England.[9]
Martha's death (age 73) was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1907 in the Gateshead district.[10]
