Descendant of First Nations Marie Christine Aubois/Hautbois.

Marie was born about 1738. She was said to be 86 years old when she died in 1823.

She married Félix Godin about 1757, probably in Île St Jean. Their first son Félix was baptized at Montmagny in November 1758 (Age: 2 months). He was "ondoyé" at birth (September 1758) by Cocard in Île St Jean. [1]

According to researcher André-Carl Vachon, a group of 9 Acadians left Sainte-Anne-des-Pays-Bas (near present-day Fredericton, New Brunswick) by canoe and reached Montmagny in the province of Québec before 16 November 1758 when Félix Godin was baptized. Among this group were: Félix Godin, Marie-Rose Roy his wife, Félix Godin their son, Joseph and René Godin (Félix's brothers). [3]

She passed away in 1823. [4]

Research Notes

Filiation
In the marriage contract of her daughter Geneviève among the witnesses were Joseph Godin and Joseph Levreau Langis, her uncles. Joseph Levreau was the husband of Marie Anne, sister of Rose. [5] Geneviève Godin signed. Marie Rose Roy put an x beside her name, and her brother-in-law Joseph Levraud dit Langy did not sign either.
