Bertha, the first daughter and eldest of six children of John Ryan and Hester Ludvig was born on 15 June 1880 at Utica, Minnesota.
Marriage and Children
Bertha married James Albert Burt, the son of Charles Henry and Mary M. (Baldwin) Burt on 9 January 1896 at Buffalo, Wisconsin.[1] They had five children born at Utica, Minnesota:
Jay Alvin Burt (b. 21 Oct 1896; d. 26 Mar 1897, Utica, MN)[2][3]
Bessie Mae Burt (b. 18 Jan 1898; d. 1967)[4] m. Donald Dewitt Smith (1893-1964)
Jesse James Burt (b. 1899; d. 1964) m. Hester M. Ryan (1898-1964)
Ernest Walter Burt (b. 15 Oct 1900; d. 18 Dec 1981, Winona, MN)[5][6] m. 22 Nov 1922, Helen M. Heubner (1902-1968)
Marvin Perdale Burt (b. 23 Feb 1902; d. 10 Dec 1973, Rochester, MN)[7][8] m. Evelyn May Nisbit (1912-1998)
In 1910, James (38 years, occupation Lumber Dealer) and Bertha (29 years, b. MN) and their children Bessie (11 years), Jesse (10 years), Ernest (9 years) and Marvin (8 years) were living at Utica, Winona, Minnesota.[9]
Bertha became a widow on 11 December 1943 at Minnesota.[10]
Death and Burial
Bertha Isabelle (Ryan) Burt died on 22 July 1953 in her 73rd year at Winona.[11] She is buried in Oakwood Cemetery at Utica, Winona, Minnesota.[12]
