I'm researching the Sager / Seger surname, primarily found in Michigan and Ohio. I've rec'd a fair amount of DNA matches, too. Please tell me what states and timeframe your Sagers are found in.

I've traced my Sager line back to William Thomas Sager b. ~1802, probably in VA (although he claimed OH on some census forms). His son Jerome Franklin Sager b. 1836 in OH and moved to IL before 1880. His son William Thomas b. 1866 in OH, also later settled in IL. His children all born in IL, one of which is my grandfather Claude Elmer Sager b. 1897.

I cannot find any records of William Thomas Sager b. ~1802 parents or siblings. Through DNA matches, I theorize he is the grandchild of Gabriel Sager b. 1733 who immigrated from Germany. Records suggest Gabriel (m. Ann Margaretha Delp) had 8 children: 4 dau and 4 sons. The daughters are all documented, married before 1800. Two of the sons documented enough to eliminate Wm T as a possible child. This leaves two sons: Peter and Samuel with little information. And since they are common names, there are other Samuel's and Peter's that are not matches to this line.

Do any of my OH ancestors match yours?
