Research Notes

The source of Nicholas' date of birth here is unclear but his sibling Robert was specifically noted as the eldest son in mother Johan's will (see her profile for source). This means either his or Robert's birth date should be changed (unfortunately his siblings also have no sources for their ages).

Noted as father of Agnes:
Agnes (Sampson) Daleber was the daughter of Nicholas and Alyce Sampson, sister of Gregory and Edde, of Hawkchurch in Dorset^[2]

(Hawkchurch became part of Devon at a later date).

This profile was previously attached as a spouse of Cicely (Seckford) Felton (1498-aft.1533).

Cicely Seckford married a Nicholas Sampson (after 10 Feb 1533) but there is no evidence it was the Nicholas Sampson of Hawkchurch, Devon. It is more likely that she married a Nicholas from the Suffolk Sampson family (of Playford). There are known links between the Sampson and Felton families (surname of Cicely's first husband from Playford). Lilla Briggs Sampson writes about them in Chapter IV of 'The Sampson Family' pp 19-20 - this book can be found online at Forgotten Books and Internet Archive.
