Biography

Edward Franklyn Sarten was born in 1857 in New Plymouth. He was the son of Edmund Sartin and Lucy Rodd Lye [1].

Edward married Marion Hill in 1895 in New Zealand and there is no record of any children [2]. Marion passed away 3 years later.

Edward married Heni Thompson in 1908 in New Zealand and there is no record of any children [3]. Heni is a Maori woman, born Whakaetenga Takirau. She has had at least two husbands before Edward, and will have another after him [4]. She died in a fire in late 1909 - married to Harry Willoughby (a drunk). Her enormous estate was the subject of a court battle. Harry Willoughby died in 1912.

He passed away in 1909 in Gisborne aged 42 years and is buried in the Makaraka Cemetery, Gisborne [5]. Edward's find a grave profile [6].
