The Descendants of Richard Sares (Sears) of Yarmouth, Mass., 1638-1888Page 54 (Joel Munsell's Sons, 1890) No 28, writes that we was a Captain in the Militia and called in the Record, "Secundus." !"His illness was short, he had scarcely ever a day's sickness; he lived nearly fifty years with his wife, but had no children." His will dated Aug. 7,1765, was proved Sep. 24, 1765, by his wife Elizabeth, Execx.; names Samuel, son of Bro. Samuel; Seth, son of Bro. Seth; Prince, son of Bro. Jonathan, deceased; Samuel Vincent, son of sister Hannah, and other near relatives.
"Elizabeth, wife of Joseph Sears, Secundus," was admitted to the 2d Church, Yarmouth, from the Church in Harwich, 3 Aug 1735. Her estate was administered upon by Thomas Clarke, 5 Aug 1772, and was valued at £ 50 18 11.
