Private Jesse Slayton served with Worcester County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

Jesse Slayton was born in Brookfield, Massachusetts in 1764, the son of Phinehas Slayton and Eleanor Morey. He and Betsy Bucklin married about 1781. They moved to Calais, Vermont about 1795. Jesse Slayton died in Wallingford, Vermont in 1846.

From Asa W. Slayton's Slayton History : 21. JESSE, b. 1764 (?) in [Brookfield, Mass]; was pub. in [Brookfield, Mass] Sept. 20, 1781, to be m. to Betsy Bucklin of Westminster, Vt. He was in the army in 1780. He was a farmer and cabinet-maker; seven ch. were b. in [Brookfield, Mass], two in Calais, Vt. Feb. 5, 1705, for 100 £ he "sold a certain farm in Brookfield on which he now lives, estimated 20 acres." In the spring of 1795 he moved to Vt,, and settled on and cleared up the farm in Calais where Walter P. now lives. The Vt. Gazetteer says—June 8, 1791, Jesse Slayton (and others) presented accounts to the Town Board of Calais, for work done on the roads He may have gone to Calais to begin a settlement with Simeon 1790, and taken his family afterward. He was one of the original 25 who voted at the organization of the town. He d. June 25, 1846, at Wallingford, Vt.; buried there. Nine ch." [1]
