The project has been founded with 60+ test kits of of those who claim to descend from Abraham Cocke that have known lines, with a large number of the establishing testers claiming descent from Phoebe Cox DeMoss. Included in the study are a documented direct line Abraham Cocke descendants that include male and female siblings, and a family cluster of female direct line mtDNA tested descendants of Phoebe Cox DeMoss.
This project is established to study the relationship of the descendant lines of Abraham Cocke 1690-1760 VIRGINIA. Participant GedMatch kits MUST have a published tree showing a line from the tester to one of Abraham Cocke's children. A published tree on WikiTree or at least the line from the tester to one of the children is needed to be able to participate fully in the study as we will be working to triangulate shared segments for documentation. Not all of Abraham Cocke's children are listed on his WikiTree profile, if you come from a line not listed please email this project admin when submitting your test(s) to the project. Family groups of testers are very helpful so please feel free to recommend other close family that have tested and share your line.
The project is additionally seeking direct line male Y testers and for the daughter lines of Abraham Cox, mtDNA testers. If you are a direct line Y Cox descendant or a direct line female mt descendant, please email the admin when you submit your kit. This is a sub-project of the DEMOSS DNA PROJECT and the HARPETH RIVER REGION, BELLEVUE, TN DEMOSS FAMILY DNA PROJECT.
