Biography

Josiah was born in 1732. He was the son of Josiah Snow and Sarah Bellows. [1] He was a descendant of Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins.[2]

Administration of the estate of Josiah Snow of South Hadley was granted to his son Josiah Snow of South Hadley on 12 Feb 1760; the letters of administration do not state family relationships.[3]

He married first to Azubah Dickinson, and second to Lucy (?Judd).[2]

Genealogies of Hadley families: embracing the early settlers of the towns of Hatfield, South Hadley, Amherst, and Granby[4] lists Josiah as having the following children by his second wife:

  • Josiah, b 18 Jun 1762
  • Azubah, b 8 Mar 1764
  • Lucy, b 2 Sep 1768
  • Lydia, b 18 May 1772
  • Elizabeth, b 17 Aug 1774

These births are confirmed in the South Hadley town records.[5]

He was a Sergeant in the Revolution from Massachusetts.[2]

He passed away in 1807.[6]
