Helen Maria 'Nellie' Southby was born in 1879 in Echuca, Victoria (Australia). She was the daughter of Robert Southby and Rose Helen Brodribb nee Neale. [1]
Nellie married Church of England (Anglican) minister, Reverend Charles Patmore, fourteen years her junior, in 1926 in Victoria. [2]
Charles was commissioned as an army chaplain during the Second World War and was killed in February 1943 whilst a prisoner of war of the Japanese on Ambon Island, Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia).
Helen passed away, aged 72 years, on 10th June 1951 in Toowoomba, Queensland and is buried in the Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery. [3]
