Research Notes

  • Archibald (aka Gillespic or Celestin) Campbell joined Sir Duncan in 1414 in a grant to his kinsman of Craignish. 12 July 1415, he witnessed a charter by his grandfather, Robert, Duke of Albany. He died before March 1440. Said to have married Elizabeth, daughter of John, third Lord Somerville of Carnwath, and then a daughter of Murdac, Duke of Albany (there's no proof of this according to Balfour, unless she was a natural daughter).
