About the Project

The Treat Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Treat name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Treat name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Treats), by time period (18th Century Treats), or by topic (Treat DNA, Treat Occupations, Treat Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Also see the related surnames and surname variants.

How to Join

To join the Treat Name Study, first start out by browsing our current research pages to see if there is a specific study ongoing that fits your interests. If so, feel free to add your name to the Membership list below, post an introduction comment on the specific team page, and then dive right in!

If a research page does not yet exist for your particular area of interest, please contact the Name Study Coordinator: S Davenport for assistance.

  3. A brief supplement to the "Treat genealogy" by John H. Treat : being the descendants of Mary Treat and Joel Titus, through their children Beulah, Samuel, and Sarah or Sally.

I've signed up as a member because I am related to the Treat family through the Goodrich family from Connecticut. Is there a profile for Jennie Treat who was born in Sharon, Wisconsin, she was married to David E. Sedgwick. The Daugthers of the American Revolution have a lineage book I found while researching another Treat family member. The link is here http://wvancestry.com/ReferenceMaterial/Files/Lineage_Book_-_National_Society_of_Daughters_of_Founders_and_Patriots_-_Vol_15.pdf, she is referenced on page 28.

I'm new to Wiki Tree and want to be part of the Treat Name Study. Richard Treat (1584-1669) is my 9th grandfather, Gov. Robert Treat is my 8th grandfather. I am interested in finding others with a similar lineage.

Sorry for the long delay in answering; somehow I must have missed the notification for your comment.

Looks like we are seventh cousins descended from Joseph Treat (1662-1721) and his wife Elizabeth Merwin.

I know there are others doing work on their Treat connections as well, but not too many are active. Andrew Creveling has been in touch with me and I need to get back with him - he is working on a line connected to John Berry Treat Sr (1776-1834).

My main goal is to make sure that Treat profiles are well sourced and connected within Wikitree. If you are interested in helping with that, take a look at this page for some ways you can help https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Space:Treat_One_Name_Study_-_Potential_Projects&public=1
