Biography

Eliza Virginia "Jennie" Stokes was born 31 July 1858, in Todd County, Kentucky, United States. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Stokes. In 1860, Jennie and her family lived in Todd County, Kentucky^[1] and by 1870 they lived in Seminary, Hopkins County, Kentucky.^[2]

She was first married to Robert W. Laffoon on 6 March 1872, in Hopkins County, Kentucky.^[3] They were the parents of one daughter and two sons. In 1880, the couple lived in Earlington, Hopkins, Kentucky, with their daughter Ida and son Charles.^[4] Their youngest son Clifton was born in 1881.

Her husband Robert died in 1889 and on 1 February 1893 in Hopkins County, Kentucky, Eliza V. Laffoon married C. D. Moore (Charles).^[5] In 1900, the couple lived in the Barnsley section of Earlington, Hopkins, Kentucky with their daughter Lula A. Moore and Eliza's sons Charley and Clifton Laffoon.^[6]

Eliza V. (Stokes) Moore died of pulmonary tuberculosis on 17 March 1917 in Earlington, Hopkins, Kentucky and was buried at Suthards Cemetery in Earlington.^[7][8]
