I agree with Scott that Petrus father was Johannis who did come from Germany. Johannis is shown on the list of the "New Netherland Community" and the joint profile managers are Rick Rice and "New Netherland settlers Wikitree".

There are a couple of profiles for Johannis, one is still a work in progress by me and I will soon seek a merge with the other managed by RR and NNSW (above) which show "Jonannes Syffer (1700 - 1762). The Church records of the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow are available on line via a link from the "Van Tassel Family History" Page (Thank you Van Tassels). The church records the marriage of Johannis b in Germany (but no date) to Leah Buys the record is dated October 16 1731(record # 95 in the marriage book) Elsewhere in the Church books "Lea Buys" baptism is recorded (05/25/1714), (record #280 in the baptism book.) The church records also evidence various baptisms and marriages for the children of Johannis and Leah from 1732 thru 1755.

Sypher-1 and Syffer-2 appear to represent the same person because: Same wife, Sypher-1 is the English translation of the Dutch names, Petrus and Syffer.

"Ryerse-Ryerson Family: 1574-1994" P.57 says that Petrus' father was Johannis Syffer who came from Germany. He arrived in Tarrytown in 1726. He married Lea Buys, no date given.
