James M Finsley was enumerated as son of the head of household in Cathey's Creek Township, Transylvania County, North Carolina for the June 8, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as born November 1891 in North Carolina and single. Also included in the household are head George H Finsley, wife Mary E Finsley, daughter Emmie D Finsley, daughter Flora B Finsley, daughter Florence E Finsley, son Johey Finsley, daughter Georgia Finsley and daughter Jessie Finsley as seen in an image of the original census.[1]

James M Tinsley was enumerated as son of the head of household at Catheys Creek, Transylvania County, North Carolina for the April 16, United States Census, 1910. He was noted as born 1892 in North Carolina and single. He was a laborer on a home farm as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are head George H Tinsley, wife Mary E Tinsley, daughter Florence E Tinsley, son John W Tinsley, daughter Georgia E Tinsley, daughter Jessie M Tinsley, daughter Elsie E Tinsley, son Robert A Tinsley, daughter Mary A Tinsley, son George N Tinsley and son Jefferson D Tinsley.[2]

James Monroe Tinsley registered for military service as recorded in this June 5, 1917 United States World War I Draft Registration Card. His birth was listed as November 7, 1891 in Transylvania, North Carolina. His address was Anderson County no 2, South Carolina. He was a tenant farmer working on the land of Grip? Anderson. He claimed his wife was dependent on him. He was medium height and medium build with brown eyes and black hair as seen in this image of the original form.[3]
