Also May 1777 in Barracks, Philadelphia. Also Nov 1777 2nd Penns Co of Foot under Capt Joseph Howell. Also Oct 1777 he was sick in the country. Also Dec 1777 on furlough, Colonel Henry Bicker, allowed by Congress. Had been commissioned 1 Jan 1777, promoted to Captain March 1777. From 2.5 to 4. years in service into 1780. Their are pay receipts into 1784. One page reads Capt 2nd Inf. Regt. [3]

The paternal grandfather was a native of Virginia, but early in life moved to South Carolina, where he followed farming and blacksmithing.

Samuel Tolbert likely was the same person by that name who was crippled most of his life. He was born in South Carolina, and moved to what became Calhoun County, Alabama. He was a blacksmith and a gunsmith by trade; he devoted some time to the agricultural trade. Further research will be done to verify this.

Samuel Tolbert had a son named Samuel Tolbert, listed above, who had a son named Edward Tolbert. An account on Edward Tolbert stated, " Edward Tolbert was born in Chesterfield District, South Carolina September 5, 1836 and is a son of Sam and Christian Norris Tolbert. The paternal grandfather was a native of Virginia, but early in life moved to South Carolina, where he followed farming and blacksmithing. Sam Tolbert was reared in South Carolina, subsequently removed to Calhoun County, Alabama. He was a cripple the greater part of his life and was a blacksmith and gunsmith by trade. He also devoted some attention to farming. His death occurred in 1867. Mrs Tolbert, the mother of our subject died in 1882, at the age of seventy-two years. She was the mother of eight children, of whom two are living: Edward and Wiley..."[8] The paternal grandfather is Samuel Tolbert, Revolutionary War soldier. The Sam Tolbert, who was a cripple, was the son Samuel Tolbert.

Tolbert-924 and Tolbert-428 do not represent the same person because: There is no documentation that they are the same (only family trees with no proof given), and some conflicting information as to the father of Samuel Tolbert.

The name of Samuel Tolbert may be the same, but there is no documentation of of any of the persons on profile Tolbert-924 other than some marriage records that do not prove they are the same person. And in the same profile the father given for Samuel Tolbert is William Torbert, as seen below:
