Biography

Pierre Trahan was born on June 9, 1696 in Pisiguit, Acadie, according to his own declaration at Belle-Isle-en-Mer in 1767. [1] His parents were Guillaume Trahan and Jacqueline Benoit. [2]

He married Madeleine Comeau on September 30, 1716. [1][2]

Together they had these known children:
  1. Bruno Trahan (1719)
  2. Marie Josephe Trahan (1721)
  3. Pierre Trahan (1723)
  4. Marie Madeleine Trahan (1725)
  5. Anne Trahan (1727)
  6. Charles Trahan (1727)
  7. Francois Casteigné Trahan (c.1729)
  8. Marguerite Trahan (1731)
  9. Joachim Trahan (1735)

He was 60 years old when the British began uprooting and deporting their Acadian subjects from Nova Scotia in 1755-56. His ship was evidently first sent to colonial Virginia, where the governor refused to accept the Acadians and sent them on the England, where they were detained until the end of the Seven Years War in 1763. He was "on 1763 list of passengers from Liverpool to France," where they were repatriated after the war. Two years later "he was on 1765 census at Belle-Ile-en-Mer, age 70 years."[2]

He died at Magoric, at the house of his son Joachim (Locmaria Register) on 18 April 1772, age 78 years.[2]
