Isaac Tubbs married Martha Smith, daughter of John and Mary. Jacobus indicated that they married before 1710.[4] It appears that they married by 1 May 1708, the date when Isaac Tubs of "Lime" and his wife Martha Tubs, "relict of Simon DeWolfe of Lime, deceased," and administratrix of his estate, appointed "James Rogers Juner of New London" as their attorney. Isaac Tubs signed his name to the document; Martha Tubs signed with a cross.[5]
The following entry in the Public Records of the Colony of Connecticut in May 1737 indicates that some years prior Isaac Tubbs had experienced "distraction" that made him incapable of supporting himself and his family, leading the town of Lyme to seek permission from the General Assembly to sell some of his property:[6]
On the memorial of the selectmen of Lyme, setting forth that one Isaac Tubbs of said town hath for divers years been under distraction, so as to be under the care and charge of the selectmen of said town, and that all his moveable estate is already expended, and sundry debts due to several persons for his subsistence hitherto, amounting to near forty pounds ; praying that some meet person or persons may be impowred to sell so much of the said distracted person's land as will be sufficient to discharge said debts and defray the charge of selling the same: This Assembly doth authorize and impower Messrs. John Griswould and Richard Lord to sell so much of said Tubbs's real estate as to procure the sum of forty pounds money, to be improved for the ends aforesaid, and to give ample conveyance of the land so sold.
In May 1744, the General Assembly received a new request for assistance from Isaac's wife, Martha Tubbs:[7]
Upon the memorial of Martha Tubbs of Lyme in the county of New London, the wife of Isaac Tubbs of said Lyme, shewing to this Assembly that about sixteen years ago her said husband was seized with distraction, under which he still remains, and that the use of his estate hath been almost wholly improved for his support, and that she is reduced to great straits and difficulties to live, and that since his said distraction she hath had laid out to her about six acres of wild land which is, as it lyes, altogether unprofitable; and praying that some proper person may be impowered to sell said land, and see that the money is disposed of to her use: Resolved by this Assembly, that Capt. John Lee of said Lyme, be appointed and impowered with the said Martha Tubbs, to sell said land at their best discretion; and the said Lee is hereby directed to take effectual care that the money procured by the sale thereof be improved to the best advantage of the said Mary Tubbs.

Paternal relationship is supported (but not confirmed) through Y-chromosome DNA test results on Family Tree DNA. Richard Tubbs, FTDNA kit # 924985, and his 8th cousin, LET, FTDNA kit # 677842, match at a Genetic Distance of 1 on 12 markers thereby supporting their direct paternal lines back to their most-recent common ancestor who is Samuel Tubbs, the 7x great grandfather of Richard Tubbs and the 6x great grandfather of WGT. FTDNA indicates that the probability that the two share a common ancestor within the last 8 generations is 55.88% and within the last 12 generations is 70.69%.

The death date in the text of 27 Mar 1748/9 does not make sense. Dual dates would only be used up through March 24. The date seems to be copied from the William Tubbs PDF, and the error was presumably introduced at some stage of copying the information. Is there an original record that can be consulted for the correct year?
