George Utley was born in Yorkshire, England.

George Utley was an English footballer who was one of the most competitive footballers of his day playing for Barnsley, Sheffield Utd, Manchester City and England and twice winning the FA Cup. He was strong and powerful half back.

George was born in 1887. He was the 11th and youngest child of James and Mary Butterworth.^[1] He was christened on 31 July 1887 at Holy Trinity, Elsecar, Yorkshire.^[2]

George Utley and Hannah Blackburn married in 1914 at Chesterfield, Derbyshire.^[3] They did not have any children. She passed away in 1934, age 43.^[4]

George Utley and Judith Brierley married in 1936 at Fylde, Lancashire.^[5] They had no children.

He passed away in 1966, age 79.^[6]
