Biography

Hendrick was baptized on 18 April 1716 in the Reformed Dutch Church at Sleepy Hollow, New York, recorded as Henderickes, the child of Johannis Van Texel and Caharina his wife. Witnesses were Jan Ecker and Magdaleena his wife. [1] His parents are Jan Van Tassel and Catharina Joost Springsteen.

Research Notes

LNAB

LNAB is van Texel. This is the last name recorded for the father at this child's baptism, with case correction for the preposition "van." Smith-62120 23:41, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Records for Another Man

These records probably are for the life of Hendrick Van Tassel (1706-1771):

Sleepy Hollow marriage record Oct. 24 1730, #88 in Cole transcription, for Hendreck Van Tessel born in Cortlandt and Belytie Buys born in Acqueggenonk [Passaic NJ]. Both resident in Philipsburgh.

Marriage to Rachel Williams

At this marriage in 1750, bridegroom Hendrick Van Tessel was a bachelor, and the bride was a widow of about age 50. It is very plausible that this man was the bridegroom.
