David Vaughan was born on October 25, 1704 in Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island. [1]He was the son of John Vaughan and Elizabeth (Bull) Vaughan.[2] He married Dinah Baker in North Kingstown, Washington, Rhode Island in 1725 or 1726. David is listed as a resident of East Greenwich, Kent, Rhode Island in a 1760 census.[3] David Vaughan and his family moved from Rhode Island to Dutchess County, New York about 1758. He is listed along with his son David Jr. in the February 3, 1761 tax list for Beekman's Precinct.[4] He died in 1761 at Beekman, and his will was probated in Albany on October 30, 1761.[5] After his death, several of his children emigrated to Nova Scotia as New England Planters.
