Biography

Caleb Wiseman, son of Michael Wiseman and Catherine Unknown, was born on the 29 Dec 1756 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.[1]

Though no Baptismal record has been located for Caleb, we find a Gottlieb Weisman b. 1755 Lancaster, Pennsylvania who passed away in 1776 during the RW. It is evidenced that Gottlieb and Caleb both served with the same militia and leaders during the RW in both Pennsylvania and New York and from that we can conclude that they were siblings.

Caleb married Katherine Ott in about 1778.

Children of Caleb and Katherine:

  1. Elizabeth Wiseman 1779-

Caleb Wiseman who married Katherine Ott and his descendants are very probably not related to Isaac Wiseman. I believe Caleb's father emigrated from Germany in the 1740s and lived in Lancaster County, PA before Caleb served in the Revolutionary War. He and his Ott inlaws then were in Windsor Twp. York County, PA before moving to Monongalia County, VA and by 1810 to Wood County, VA where his family still has descendants. He may somehow be connected to Isaac but I think Isaac has English origins whereas Caleb's are almost certainly German.
