Cornelius, son of James Westerfield and Phoebe Cozine, was born 1 Feb 1782 at Harper's Ferry, Berkeley Co VA[1] and died on 30 Jul 1852 at Whitesville, Ohio County, KY.[1][2][3]
He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Bruce, daughter of James BRUCE Jr and Mary RUNYAN, on 13 Jun 1802 at Bardstown, Nelson County, KY;[1][5][6] children (surname WESTERFIELD):[1]

Cornelius' will dated 28 Jul 1852 at Ohio County, KY, left his estate to his wife (not named) and after her death equally to his children (not named).[7]
The 1810 census of Mercer County, KY, listed Cornelius Westerfield with 3 males under 10 (James, Cornelius Jr, William), 1 male 26-44 (himself), 1 female under 10 (Mary), 1 female 26-44 (wife Elizabeth), and 6 slaves.[8]
The 1820 census of Ohio County, KY, listed Cornelious Westerfield with 3 males under 10 (Joel, George, David), 2 males 10-15 (William), 1 male 16-18 (Cornelius Jr), 1 male 16-25 (James), 1 male 26-44 (himself), 2 females under 10 (Nancy, Elizabeth), 1 female 10-15 (Mary), and 1 female 26-44 (wife Betsy).[9]
The 1830 census of Perryville, Mercer County, KY, listed Cornl Westerfield with 2 males 5-9 (Alexander, Isaac), 1 male 10-14 (David), 1 male 40-49 (himself), 2 females under 5 (Phoebe, Sarah), 1 female 10-14 (Elizabeth), 1 female 15-19 (Nancy), 1 female 40-49 (wife Elizabeth), 1 female 70-79 (mother or mother-in-law), and 2 slaves.[10]
The 1850 census of District 1, Daviess County, KY, listed Cornelius Westerfield (48, $farmer, $2000 rea estate, b. VA) and Elizth (43, b. KY). Their ages should have been 68 and 63.[11]
