Lorenzo, the fourth of six children of James Whitten and Ruth Bradbury was born on 22 March 1841 at Cumberland, Maine.

Private Lorenzo Whitten served in the United States Civil War. Enlisted: Sep 29, 1862 Mustered out: Jul 10, 1863 Side: USA Regiment(s): Company C; 25th Maine Infantry
Lorenzo served at the rank of Private during the American Civil War with Company C, Maine 25th Infantry. He enlisted on 29 September 1862 at Maine and mustered out on 10 July 1863 at Portland, Maine.[1]
Marriage and Children
Lorenzo married Martha L. Seaman (1851-1881), the daughter of Russell S. and Elizabeth (Arnold) Seaman on 24 March 1869 at Big Rapids, Michigan.[2] They had five children born at Michigan:

Lorenzo Whitten Jr. (b. 1881; d. 29 Aug 1881, Big Rapids, MI)[9]
Death and Burial
Lorenzo D. Whitten died on 8 December 1914 in his year at Mitchell, and is buried in Mitchell Cemetery at Mitchell, Scotts Bluff, Nebraska.[10]
