Jacob Cooper Whittinghill was born on 24 Jan 1804 in Ohio, Kentucky to parents John Whittinghill and Elizabeth Cooper. He married Jane Murphy about 1830 in Kentucky. They moved to Illinois for a few years before 1840 but returned to Ohio, Kentucky. Children: Mary A, Angeline, Rachael, Catherine, Rebecca Frances, Alexander, Lucretia Jane. He died at age 76 on 12 Sep 1879 in Ohio, Kentucky.
