Biography

Baptized June 16, 1667 in Ferwerd.

NITTE (NUTTERT) WYTSES (WIETSES) Children: Sieuwck (1694, married Tjeerd Sybes), Wytze (1696), Vetje (Fetje, 1699, married Romke Tijjsen). No mother named in births; no marriage record.

There was a Nutte Wikkes and Janke Bouwes who were members of the church in Ferwerd in 1687; as they made profession of faith in 1678 (when our Nitte was 11 years old), they couldn’t be our Nitte. Looking at names of children, Vetje would most likely have been the name of Nuttert's wife's mother, and Fettje or Trijntje of Nuttert's wife. Fettje Harmens married Watze Alberts in 1678; they had a daughter Trijntje baptized in 1687, too late to be our Nuttert's wife. Hantum had 3 Fettjes at the right time - none seemed to have any children in Hantum, Ferwerd or areas.

There was also a judge in Kollum named Nittert Wijtses. He died in 1683, so he wouldn't have been our Nuttert.^[1]
