Children: Dieuw (Dec 4 1672), Wigger (Sept 3 1675), Trijn (Jan 17 1677), Aafje (Dec 24 1679, witness Lijsbet her grandmother), Lijsbet (Nov 16 1681, witness Marij Pieter Hillegonts), Wigger (Nov 14 1683), Pieter (Sept 9 1686, witness Marij Pr Hillegonts), Trijn (Aug 14 1689, witness Geert Gesen), Jan (Aug 31 1692, witness Geert Gerts), Trijn (Jan 19 1695, witness Geert Gerrits).
In baptism records, Lijsbeth is listed as Lijst Pieters Freriks. In church membership records she is usually called either Lijst Pieters alias Jans or Lijst Jans.
Teunis and Lijsbeth made profession of faith and had their first Communion on May 1 1672, together with one other person. In 1677, 1679, 1687, 1691, 1705 and 1717, the membership records include Teunis Wiggertsz and Lijst Jans his wife in the Munnickij then in the west side of the north end of Schellinkhout, so Lijsbeth must have also gone by Lijst Jans. Two records say Lijst Pieters alias Jansz.
It seems that Teunis and Lijst inherited or at least took care of Lijst's family house while her brother Freek was at sea. In the 1677 and 1679 lists they are at the end of a string of people whose last names end in Pieters. In the 1687 list they are at the head of the list. The list is mostly the same, but a Claas Pieters is added as a single person just before Marij Pieters - it turns out another sea captain named Claas Steenhuijs (not related). In 1691 Teunis and Lijst were no longer living there, and Lijst's brother Freek was in charge of the house.
Teunis served as a carpenter on 6 different ships. One was "de Roode Tas" (the red Tasman) - the captain was Pieter Cornelis Tasman, cousin to his brother Gerrit's wife. The ships "'t Steenhuis" and "la Bonine" were captained by Claas Pietersz Steenhuis as found at [1]. He lived with Teunis' family for a while. The ship "de Stadt Riga" lets us know he most likely got to see Russia. He may have traveled with his brother-in-law Freek Pieters on "'t Lam". He also sailed on "de Coornsnijer".
Schellingkhout was a major shipping center, and many of the men there were skippers of their own ships. Some of the ships were built there too.
According to the 16th Hooghmanschap, Theunis owned about 13 rods of land compared with 293 rods owned by his brother-in-law.[1]
