Amos married Lucretia Whipple 14 Jun 1789 in Bozrah, Connecticut, United States. Amos's name is listed as Whitman or Witman in the Connecticut, Church Record Abstracts^[1]

Amos was a resident of Herkimer Co., NY as early as 1807 but bought land there in April 1796. He was heir to a share of his father's tract of land in Columbia Twp., Herkimer Co., under the latter's will, dated 16 Dec. 1807, recorded 14 Sept. 1814, his widow and children receiving the inheritance according to the distribution, bearing the date of 19 Sept. 1814. They also received land in Lebanon, New London, CT under the same will.

Amos was living 20 Sept. 1814 when he signed a note acknowledging a small loan. He died intestate, his brother David appointed administrator on 6 Dec of the same year^[2].
