About June 1775, "Seven families intended to settle at Lot 57, [Orwell Bay, Prince Edward Island] acquired in 1767 by Samuel Smith, a merchant, but they left without trace. It is thought that the settlement failed because of inadequate provisioning and its remote location. The group included William Simpson, and his wife, Janet Winchester. Helen Simpson, wife of William Clark is also likely to have sailed on the John and Elizabeth." The John and Elizabeth left from Morayshire. [9]
