Zebedee was born in 1745. Zebedee Wood passed away in 1824. [1] [2]
Zebedee Wood, Esq., attorney at law, "established his home in Guilford
County. He was admitted to the bar and began his law practice in that
county. He was a Member of the House of Commons during the Revolution,
and member of the Constitutional Congress at Hillsboro in 1788, and at
Fayetteville 1789. In 1787 he was appointed on a committee to form
Randolph County out of Guilford and to establish a county seat.
Johnsonville was chosen as the first county seat of Randolph. It was
here on December 11, 1787, that Andrew Jackson appeared before the
honorable judges, Zebedee Wood, John Arnold, John Lane, and Aaron Hill
and procured his license to practice law." [3]
Will of Zebedee Wood, dated June 2, 1824, left his entire estate to his wife, Mary Wood, for her lifetime, then one tenth to each as follows: Zebedee Wood, Joseph Wood, Mary Lane, John Wood, Robert Wood, Nancy Elliott, Samuel Wood, Ibby Doake, and Sarah Kirkman, the final tenth distributed $100 per year to Mary Lane for each year of her care for Clement Wood, his oldest son, who is helpless and crippled.
Zebedee is buried at Shiloh United Methodist Church, Liberty, Randolph , NC
