Biography

Baptism & Parents

Marye Wood, daughter of John [& Jane Wood] of Roydon, Essex, England, was baptized on 10 November 1605 in Roydon.[1][2][3] No mother is actually mentioned in the parish register.

Marriage

Mary Wood married Richard Platt, 26 Jan 1629, at Roydon, Essex, England[1][3][4]

Immigration

Mary and Richard Platt came to New England by 1639.[5]

The family was early in New Haven, where Richard was listed with four heads and an estate of £200.[6]

We know they moved on from New Haven with the Milford settlers. Mary, wife of Richard Platt, was admitted to the church in Milford, Connecticut, on 15 Aug 1641. Richard, even earlier, was admitted 29 Jan [1640].[7]

Mary predeceased her husband; the exact date of her death is unknown, but Milford Church records show that she was buried there on 24 March 1675/1676.[7][1][3][8]

The Find A Grave memorial for Mary shows the memorial stone placed on the Founders Bridge in Milford, which says "Dea Richard Platt obit 1684 Mary His Wife"[9]
