20 June 1687: Jeronimus / Hieronimus Cruse / Croos (from Bielefeld) dies at Cape. Arrives (1660) as soldier on "Wapen Amsterdam". Takes part in expedition of Jonas de la Guerre (1663). Leader of 2 expeditions into interior (1668), expedition to Mossel Bay (1668) & to the Hessequa (1669). Sergeant in Company's stable (1670). Taken prisoner by French (1670) at Saldanha Bay but released after a short time. Marries (8 June 1670) Aaltje / Jacomintje Elberts: (from Nieuwenhuyse). Eva Meerhoff, born Krotoa of the Goringhaicona, appears to baptise (23 November 1670) her illegitimate son Jeronimus (Meerhoff) after him. Ensign & commander of garrison (1674). Leader of expedition against Cochoqua (1673-1674) & against Bushmen (1676) - main object of expeditions to provide cattle for the garrison and ships of Company. Deacon of Church (1675, 1676 & 1684). Purchases (3 January 1687) from Roelof Diodati, bookkeeper on the "Jambi" - who later marries Eva Meerhoff's grandddaughter on Mauritius - the slave Isak van Madagascar for Rds. 32. Dies (20 June 1687).[4]

Zaaijman-16 and Zaaiman-44 appear to represent the same person because: Please investigate. This seems to be the same person surname spelled different, Zaaijman-16 have less info I think it is still the same person AS Zaaiman-44. See spelling of surname, maybe it should also be Zaaijman.
