All WikiTree members are encouraged to help make the anniversary and 5* most visited profiles shine. If you work on one of the 5* profiles, please add a comment or answer here so that we can update the 5* spreadsheet.

If you are interested in Friends (Quakers) from England and America, your help would be appreciated. If the profile has co-managers, please collaborate with those managers when possible.

5 Star Profiles:

General suggestions for improvements:

  • Check that facts are sourced. Try to find sources for ones that aren't.

  • If there aren't dates/locations, see if you can find them and add with sources. If you can't find them, it would be helpful to add notes about where you searched so that others don't have to repeat your efforts.

  • Check if there are any duplicate family members and propose merges when necessary.

  • Rearrange the Biography section into a logical order, remove any GEDCOM junk and clean up after any merges. (see Biographies)

  • If there is a biography, make sure it is an originally written narrative, excluding any copyright or licensing violations (for example, not something that was copied and pasted from Wikipedia; see Copying Text)

  • If there's not a biography, try to lay out a basic narrative and/or timeline of the persons life. Getting the key facts in order will help others later.

  • Make sure the profile meets our Profile Aesthetics recommendations (see Profile Aesthetics and HTML and Inline CSS).
See if you can add photographs, pictures, maps or other visual items.

  • Add categories, project templates, stickers and/or succession boxes if appropriate.

I will see what I can find on Thomas Croasdale and his family, though it may need someone more familiar than me with American sources to help. I will also see if I can find out more about George Fox’s siblings. The ODNB says there were three of them, and currently there is a profile for just one of them.

Thanks, Michael
Now added profiles with such info as I have found for George Fox's two other siblings. Not been able yet to find any other info I can reasonably reliably ascribe to his siblings: there are others in Leicestershire with the same names.
Just done all I intend on the Croasdale family. Improved sourcing. Added Quaker birth records for children wherever possible. Added profile for son who did not have one. Added Quaker stickers and categories where needed. Corrected some inaccuracies, mainly on interpretation of Quaker dates. I have not found a Quaker source for the birth of Alice.

There is more work that could be done on the profiles of Thomas Croasdale's wife and children, but I am leaving things there for now.
Thanks so much, Michael!

I will work on John Dixon and Sarah Hollingsworth. I did quite a bit of research on both families before.

Thanks, Lori. I've added a note to the list that you are working on that couple.
I learned now: Never work on profiles past midnight. I was just about to save all my edits on John Dixon and some I hit a key and it asked me if I wanted to leave the page. Well, somehow I selected leave. I swore up and down and I am going to bed. At least I now know all the corrections and how to do them. I found sources for the related profiles. I WILL get this done!

It's too late for this to be helpful now but for future reference:

Sometimes you can use the back button for your browser and it will re-open the edit box with your changes in place.

If you are using a web browser that allows use of Chrome extensions, check out TypioForm Recovery. It has saved my sanity on more than one occasion.

Wow, thanks! I had done so much, it looked great. I use Chromium so I'll check that extension out. I'm going to tackle it soon. thanks for the suggestions!
