In 1579, James, son of Patrick Gray, 4th Lord Gray, married Lady Elizabeth Beaton, who owned the castle, and fell in love with her daughter. After Lady Beaton threw him out, Gray (with his brother Andrew of Dunninald and John Ogilvy of Kynnody) laid siege to the castle for two years, ultimately burning the inhabitants out, In March 1582 Andrew Gray was forgiven for setting fire to the castle and its yards, and other crimes.[4] Gordon Donaldson, Register of the Privy Seal: 1581-84, vol. 8 (Edinburgh, 1982), p. 128 no. 776. Pity that errors are transferred into Wikitree by copying unreliable sources. Where does one find reliable evidence that Patrick IV Lord Gray married Margaret Ker? He married Marion Ogilvy in 1537 and Marion was still his wife in 1569 see https://archive.org/details/registrummagnisi04scot/page/476/mode/2up RMS Vol.iv 1869.
Gray-28233 and Gray-13159 appear to represent the same person because: I believe that Gray-28233's daughter Elizabeth who married Laurence Bruce of Cultmalundy in 1568, is the same as the daughter of Gray-13159's missing daughter Elizabeth recorded in Scots Peerage, Vol 4, pg 283 and have added SP as source to all the profiles in question.
I'll drop by soon to see if someone else takes care of it. Also, some of the family tree data is included in the reference/sources section; whereas, those should be in Research Notes.
