Biography

Samuel May, son of Samuel Mayo (1655-1738) and his first Unknown wife, was born in an undocumented place and time, although probably in Eastham, Massachusetts about 1690. [1] He was not Samuel Mayo born 16 July 1684.

Samuel Mayo was the son of Samuel Mayo. His mother was Samuel's first wife, whose first and last names are unknown. Samuel married Abigail Sparrow, Sarah (_____) Clarke, and Mercy (Knowles) Snow. [2]Samuel was born probably in Eastham about 1690 and died in Harwich on 7 October 1761.[3]

Samuel Mayo, married (1) at Eastham, Thursday 6 Aug 1713 Abigail Sparrow.[4] The Reverend Samuel Treat officiated. Abigail was the daughter of Jonathan Sparrow and his wife, Rebecca Merrick. She died probably in Harwich before 25 Nov 1737, when her father's will mentioned her husband and children, but not her.[1] Samuel married (2) in Harwich by Rev. Mr. Nathiel Stone, Thursday 30 Oct 1740 to Sarah (_____) Clarke called "widow." Bride and groom were both of Harwich. She died before Samuel married a third time.[1]

Samuel married (3) Mercy (Knowles) Snow, "Of Eastham" on Thursday 4 April 1751. Intention was filed 2 Mar 1750/1. Mercy died after 16May 1759, when named in her husband's will. She was probably the Mercy Knowles born in Eastham 16 Nov 1704, daughter of Edward and Ann (Ridley) Knowles and widow of Joseph Snow.[1]

The will of Thomas Mayo of Eastham, yeoman, dated 21 July 1791, named wife Sarah, sons Uriah, Thomas, Jonathan, James, Israel and Sears Mayo; grandson Samuel Mayo; daus. Abigail Mayo, Sarah Paine wife of William Paine and Hannah Rogers wife of Jonathan Rogers. Wife Sarah to receive her right to thirds. Son Uriah was appointed executor. On 27 March 1794 Uriah Mayo received his letter of admin. on the estate of his father. Although the www.geni.com link supports your dates for this Samuel Mayo, other sources such as Rev John Mayo and his Descendants (see link above) give Samuel's birth year as 1690 and his death as 1759. Obviously, additional research may be required to confirm the correct dates.

His parents should be [[Mayo-52 | John Mayo and Hannah Freeman. He is listed with this same birthdate. There are good sources on his parents' profiles as well
