Abigail was a daughter of Thomas Carter and his wife Mary, whose last name is not known. Abigail Carter was born in "latter end of January" (11 month 1652), 1653, in Salisbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.[1][2] She was recorded as a daughter of Thomas and Mary Carter.[3]
Her parents were Thomas Carter, b. about 1610, and Mary (Unknown) Carter, b. about 1619. Her siblings are Mary (Carter) Lancaster, b. Oct. 6, 1641, married to Joseph Lancaster; Thomas, b. 1643 & d. Aug. 14, 1669; Martha, b. Feb. 1645 & died young; Martha, b. Mar 1647; Elizabeth, b. 1649; Samuel, b. Oct. 25, 1656; and Sarah, b. unknown & still living in 1718, m. Apr 8, 1681 to John Davis.[4]
Abigail Carter married Stephen Flanders (son of Stephen Flanders) in Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts on 28 December 1670.[5][2][6][7]
There is no proof that the mother is Mary (Dalton} Carter it is more likely to be Mary (Unknown) Carter Mary Dalton has been removed as the mother until sources prove either way.
There seems to be confusion between Rev. Thomas Carter-416 and his wife Mary Parkhurst-32 and Thomas Carter-4776 and Mary Unknown-415023. Both had daughters named Abigail. It is likely that Abigail (Carter) Flanders (Carter-9459) is the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Unknown) Carter and is the Abigail Carter that married Stephen Flanders. Abigail Carter (Carter-921) that was the daughter of Rev. Thomas and Mary (Parkhurst) Carter was born 10 Jan 1650 and died 14 Sep 1676. She married John Smith, 1648-1696.
On WikiTree there is an Abigail (Unknown) Smith (Unknown-104574), b. about 1650, married to a John Smith-20036, b. about 1650, but cannot tell if this is the daughter of Rev. Thomas and Mary (Parkhurst) Carter. They had a daughter, Bridget (Smith) Sanders (Smith-20037).
The children of Rev. Thomas and Mary (Parkhurst) Carter are Samuel Carter, 1640-1693; Judith (Carter) Fifield, 1642-1678; Theophilus Carter, 1645-1650; Mary (Carter) Batchelder, 1648-1688; Abigail (Carter) Smith, 10 Jan 1650-14 Sep 1676; Deborah Carter, 1651-1667; Timothy Carter, 1653-1727; Thomas Carter, 1655-1754.[9][10]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Abigail by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Abigail:
Carter-9459 and Carter-921 appear to represent the same person because: As indicated in past messages, these are the same person, and the father conflict has been resolved.
Carter-9459 and Carter-921 are not ready to be merged because: These are clearly intended to be the same girl (i.e., Abigail Carter, who was the daughter of Thomas Carter and who married Stephen Flanders in 1670), but the two profiles are connected to completely different fathers named Thomas Carter. (This can be seen by comparing the two collections of siblings.) Before merging, we need to determine the correct father, the incorrect father should be disconnected, and all relevant profiles should show the sourced evidence that the identification is based on (so they do not get confused again in the future).
Carter-27398 and Carter-921 do not represent the same person because: Carter-27398 and Carter-921 are two different Abigail/s. See "Post New Comment" button on Carter-921 that appears below "Acknowledgment" section regarding feedback on this profile. Abigail Carter-921 born in Salisbury 1752/53 married Stephen Flanders (not John Smith) and is not the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Parkhurst) Carter. Abigail Carter-921 should be disconnected from husband John Smith-12900 and connected to husband Stephen Flanders as sources inform. This same Abigail should also be disconnected from these above-named parents. Sources for Abigail Carter-27398 are provided including "Woburn Record of Births" and also Torrey's New England Marriages Prior to 1700," p. 684. The latter source, not only includes Abigail Carter-27398's husband, but also includes Abigail's (Carter-27398's) birth, marriage, and death dates and/or years and location commensurate with her Woburn birth record. I hope this helps in further development and correction on Abigail Carter-921.

I concur w/Ellen Smith and Jillaine Smith's posted comments below that the Abigail Carter Abigail Carter (born in Salisbury on November 10, 1652 and who died in Salisbury after 1747) should be detached from these parents [Rev. Thomas & Mary (Parkhurst) Carter and from spouse John Smith]. This Abigail (herein this post & profile) appears to have married Stephen Flanders, not John Smith.
In the meantime, since there was no profile created for the Abigail Carter, daughter of Rev. Thomas & Mary (Parkhurst) Carter, who was born on January 10, 1650, who married John Smith as his 1st wife on May 7, 1674, & who died two years later in 1676, I created a profile for her: Abigail Carter
Bio & vital data included in Carter-921 were/are not commensurate w/Carter-27398.
Abigail Carter, recorded as daughter of Thomas Carter, and identified by several sources as (1) the daughter of Thomas Carter and (2) the Abigail Carter who married John Smith, was born at Woburn on 10 January 1650. [Massachusetts: Vital Records, 1621-1850 (Online Database: AmericanAncestors.org, New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2001-2016). https://www.americanancestors.org/DB190/i/13324/43/238451013 Woburn, vol. 1, page 43. "Abigail, d. of Thomas, Jan. 10, 1650."
She is a different person from the Abigail born at Salisbury in January 1652/3 (recorded as 11 month 1652, and thus misinterpreted as November 1652), who Anderson identifies as the Abigail Carter who married Stephen Flanders.
Carter-9459 and Carter-921 do not represent the same person because: These profile are very close in birth date but are definitely not the same they have different parents and husbands. Please look at the biographies and sources
I hope nobody is looking at me to answer this. As far as I can tell, my only involvement with this Carter-9459 profile (prior to this comment being posted) was my adoption of an orphaned profile. This profile no longer identifies Mary Parkhurst as the mother.
Carter-9459 and Carter-921 appear to represent the same person because: They are both spouse of Stephen Flanders but 921 is attached to the song parents. Carter-9459 is attached to the correct parents.
