↑ Mitchell Clay also had two children with Malinda Diamond who were born "out of wedlock." Court documents show that he was taken to court and ordered to pay some support for the children. The names of the children weren't named in the court documents. We only know at this time that it had to be two children who were born prior to the court proceedings.

William Mitchell Clay was my 4th great grandfather. His daughter Julina Whitten Clay married John Carter Ball in 1832 in Lawrence County Kentucky. Their daughter Sallie Married Warren Harris DeVore and he murdered his brother-in-law on Christmas Eve 1872 over Whiskey and was still at large 3 weeks later as he told his wife when he came down the stairs that she had better check on her brother because I just shot him. She went upstairs and he slipped out the door went to his parents and disappeared. From his Military Records he had a daughter born in 1874 from Emma Havens. They got married in 1875 and so did Sallie To James Washington Bevins. Warren had two more children with Emma and Sallie had three more Children with Bevins. Sallie had three daughters with Warren. The middle daughter was my great grandmother, Julina. She married John Offord two of her children died as infants. One was still born and the other died at 6 weeks the same day that Sallie died. Grayson was my grandfather who was trained to serve in World War I. Got as far as New Jersey when they got word that the war was over. He married my Grandmother Elsie Stein. Was only married 4 years when they divorced. My grandfather married 3 more times, Virginia, Gladys and Freida. Had my mother and Aunt with Elsie.

William Mitchell Clay and Malinda Diamond were never married, so I removed her as his spouse. They did have children together, though. She took him to court and sued him for child support for at least two of her children. Their names were not mentioned in court documents, though.
