Elizabeth Collamore, baptized 2 September 1566 at Bishops Tawton, Devon, was the daughter of Henry Collamore[1] and Margaret Blight.[2][3][4] She had eight siblings: John, Thomas, William, Agnes ( wife of John Joce), Katherine (wife of Robert Slee), Margaret (wife of George Lancy), Susanna, and Rebecca (wife of William Snow).[2]

Elizabeth married Bartholomew Harris of Barnstaple, Devon, on 18 January 1586/7 in Braunton, Devon, England.[2][4][5] After their marriage, they moved to Barnstable, Devon, England, where Bartholomew was a merchant. He was selected Burgess (MP) by the townsmen of Barnstaple in 1597, but the Earl of Bath, lord lieutenant, disapproved their choice and the seat instead went to George Peard. He was elected mayor of Barnstable in 1602.[2] As mayor, he had a wide ranges of duties, including being responsible to the Privy Council of Elizabeth I.[4]

Elizabeth was buried at Barnstaple, Devon 7 December 1647. Her will dated 15 September 1647 was proved 27 January 1648/9[2] and named her surviving children, Richard (and his wife), Phillipa Baker and Priscilla Harris. There is no known marriage connection between Elizabeth (Collamore) Harris and the Spencer family. This appears to be the result of a bad merge or other confusion. I am detaching the six Spencers as her children.
I find no evidence for any Elizabeth Collamore, at this generation marrying into our family, there may have been confusion linking an Elizabeth Collamore who appears 3 generations down. There is no primary source for her at this generation, she appears out of nowhere in May or June of 2011 with no sources. I believe her last name is still unknown. Robert Spencer UEL
