The biography for Steven Colson. Born 16 Aug 1941 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Robert Colson (descendant of John [b.1733, Bertie, N.C.] and Franky Colson) and Ellen Pedersen Colson. Raised on a farm in Swan Valley, Idaho. Graduated from Idaho Falls High School, Utah State University (B.S. in Chemistry) and California Institute of Technology (PhD in Chemistry) with a year of advance studies at the National Research Council, Ottawa, Canada. Did teaching and research (publishing about 120 peer-reviewed papers) as a Chemistry Professor for 21 years at Yale University and then retired to become a Research Director at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (Richland, Washington), helping to establish the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory. He and his wife, Donna Marie Lovell Colson, raised 7 children and are now the progenitors of 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. After retiring, Steve and Donna jointly served on five 18-month humanitarian and support missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the United States, Jordon and numerous island nations in the South Pacific.*
