If the distance from Lanarkshire is increased, to 50 miles there are 50 + baptisms for people called Elizabeth Elder.
The problem isn't finding baptisms for people with her name, the problem is finding a marriage record for her and James Dick which would provide a place of marriage. Without a place and date of marriage there isn't enough information to make guestimate as to who her parents were.
If she married young she could have had her first child at age 16/17, meaning a birth date of about 1740. If she married at 40 and had her first known child at 42, that gives a birth date of about 1715.
There are 34 children with the last name Dick and a father named James baptised in Lanarkshire between 1749 and 1769.
Elisabeth could be a first wife or a second or subsequent wife, or there could easily be more than one James Dick married to a wife named Elizabeth. I found only 1 marriage record for a James Dick and variants in Lanarkshire between 1736 and 1756, and a wife named Elizabeth, but her last name is Hamilton. Sometimes the records no longer exist or we are looking in the wrong place.
It took about 5 years to find the marriage of a 4 x GGF, even though I had quite exact names and dates for them. He lived In Berwickshire, it turned out he got married in Durham, England where he went to on business regularly.
We can never know for certain. Much respect Billy.
