Sir Walter Devereux, 2nd Viscount Hereford, Lord Ferrers & Bourchier was born on 16 September 1539 at Carmarthen Castle, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, Wales, England, to Sir Richard Devereux b. c 1516, d. 13 Oct 1547, and Dorothy Hastings b. c 1511.[1]
He became Viscount Hereford, Lord Ferrers. on 27 September 1558.
He married Lettice Knollys, b. c 1541, d. 25 Dec 1634, daughter of Sir Francis Knollys, Burgess of Horsham, Camelford, & Arundel, Constable of Wallingford Castle, Governor of Portsmouth, Treasurer of the Chamber & Household and Katherine Cary, between 1560 and 1565.[2]
Sir Walter Devereux, 2nd Viscount Hereford, Lord Ferrers & Bourchier Lord Bourchier died on 22 September 1576 at Dublin Castle, Dublin, Ireland, at age 37 from dysentery.[3]
"He arrived in Dublin [as Earl Marshall of Ireland] in September 1576, and three weeks afterwards died of dysentery. There were suspicions that he had been poisoned by [the Earl of] Leicester, who shortly after his death [two years] married his widow, but these were not confirmed. . ."
